Washdown & BBQ To Help Homeless Veterans Coming June 29th

The Veterans Chamber of Commerce-NJ in partnership with Roselle Park First Aid Squad (RPFAS) and the Roselle Park Fire Department (RPFD) will be having a Washdown and Barbeque on Sunday, June 29th to help Homeless Veterans throughout the state. The event will be at at the Roselle Park First Aid Squad, located at 535 Laurel Avenue, from noon until 4 in the afternoon.

The program, Operation Chillout Homeless Veterans Outreach, runs through Labor Day weekend. Its purpose is to collect and distribute bottles of water, tee shirts, caps, as well as other supplies to homeless veterans – men and women – in New Jersey.

Member of the RPFAS, RPFD, and Veterans Chamber of Commerce will be collecting:

  • Cases of bottled water
  • Baseball caps (new)
  • Tee shirts (new)
  • Underwear
  • Socks
  • Soap
  • Shampoo
  • Chapstick
  • Deodorant
  • Combs & Brushes
  • Tissues
  • Sunblock
  • Hand wipes

Members of the First Aid Squad will be serving up hot dogs and hamburgers to all donors.

Children can participate in the wash down of the vehicles.

Senior members of the Squad will be available to take blood pressures and answer questions regarding RPFAS and membership.

Those unable to attend or participate on June 29th but would still like to donate and drop off any of the items requested can have them delivered to the RPFAS building on Larch Street. Members of the First Aid Squad are available evenings Sunday through Friday 7:30 p.m. until 11 p.m. at the Squad House.

Last year Operation Chillout was able to collect and distribute over 26,000 bottles of water, over a thousand new tee shirts, caps and supplies to homeless veterans, men and women, in the state through the efforts and cooperation of events such as this.
