Union Man Arrested For Marijuana Possession With Intent To Distribute

At 530 p.m. on April 5th, Patrolman Kevin Florczak stopped a 1997 Eagle Talon on Chestnut Street at Webster Avenue for traffic violations. During the roadside investigation, the driver, an 17-year-old from Union, NJ was found to be unlicensed. During the conversation with the unlicensed driver, Patrolman Florczak stated he observed narcotic-related packaging material inside the car. According to police, a search of the vehicle revealed over 40 small bags of suspected marijuana – valued at $1000 – hidden beneath the rear seat and over $500 in US currency and drug paraphernalia.

The juvenile driver and his passenger, Shaquille A. Serrette, a 19-year-old from Union, were both arrested and later transported to RPPD. The Eagle Talon was impounded and the currency was seized.

The juvenile was processed then released into the custody of his mother pending an appearance in Union County Family Court. Serrette was charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana within 1000 feet of a school/500 feet of a public park, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bail was set at $25,000. Serrette was then transported to Union County Jail pending an appearance in the Union County Superior Court.
