The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders will be hosting an Open House for the Union County Transportation Master Plan today, November 9th, in Cranford.
The Public Information Meeting will be from 4 p.m. till 7 in the evening at the Cranford Community Center located at 220 Walnut Avenue.
There will be presentations given from 4:30 p.m. till 6 p.m. as well as an opportunity for those in attendance to ask questions and provide input. Discussions will most likely include information on the proposed Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project that has been presented as running through Roselle Park on the unused rail line along the south side of Westfield Avenue.
The Master Plan will provide the framework for future transportation planning and investment for the County and municipalities. Transportation infrastructure impacts the decisions related to business and industry, development, educational facilities and real estate. The new plan will be conducted by the Bureau of Transportation Planning, Division of Strategic Planning & Intergovernmental Relations in the Department of Economic Development. Work on the project is estimated to be completed by June 2016.
Anyone requesting more information can visit the Union County Transportation Master Plan’s website (link). A Spanish translator will be present at the Open House.
