Two Women Assaulted In Separate Incidents

On Friday, June 14th at 2:15 p.m., Roselle Park Police responded to a 9-1-1 call about an assault in progress at an apartment building on Chestnut Street. While responding to the call, Patrolman James Kompany observed a male, fitting the description of the suspect, walking on Locust Street. Alexander E. McCue, 25 of Roselle Park, was arrested after police spoke to the victim who reported that she was strangled moments earlier by McCue. McCue was also accused of causing damage to property belonging to the victim including a vacuum and a table. The victim – who did suffer minor injuries – denied medical attention at the scene. McCue, who was known to the victim, was charged with Simple Assault and Criminal Mischief. He was lodged into the Union County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Later that same day at 9:34 p.m., police responded to the area of Chestnut Street at Charles Street for a report of a woman calling for help. The caller reported a male and female were involved in a dispute in a nearby municipal parking lot. The male allegedly then chased the female southbound on Chestnut Street. Responding units later located Carlos M. Macela, 44 of Roselle, and Mt. Bethel, PA, walking near the Roselle Park Police Department parking lot. An investigation revealed that Macela allegedly assaulted a female friend on Chestnut Street during a heated argument. Macela was charged with Simple Assault with bail set at $2,500. He was also found to have an outstanding warrant from the Roselle Park in the amount of $1,000. Macela was transported to the Union County Jail.
