On July 15, 2012, at approximately 8:18 a.m., Sgt. Theodore Dima stopped a 2002 Hyundai for several traffic violations on West Westfield Avenue at Filbert Street. Upon speaking to the two occupants, it was discovered that neither possessed any form of identification.
While speaking to the driver, later identified as Johnpaul Madden, age 18 of Elizabeth, Sgt. Dima observed detected the odor of alcohol on his breath. Madden then failed roadside sobriety tests and was placed under arrest.
The passenger, Abduladil Hasan, age 20 of Roselle, was found to be in possession of alcohol. Both were transported to headquarters where Madden was charged with DWI, Underage possession of alcohol and several traffic violations. Hasan was charged with Underage possession of alcohol. Both were later released pending appearances in Roselle Park Municipal Court.
