On October 10, 2011 at 3:06 a.m., a resident of the 100 block of East Clay Avenue reported the he had two out of five actors held at the scene that he observed standing around his vehicle, a 2003 Honda Accord. The victim observed one (1) of the individuals writing on his vehicle with a marker. The victim exited his residence to confront the individuals, at which point they fled towards Walnut Street. The victim gave chase and caught two (2) of the individuals and brought them back to his residence to await police.
Estefania Aravena, age 18 of Roselle Park, and a 17-year-old male of Roselle Park were placed under arrest and charged with criminal mischief. Ms. Aravena was released pending a Roselle Park Municipal Court date of October 20, 2011.
The markings on the vehicles were in the form of vulgar drawings and profane language.
An investigation revealed another vehicle, a 2003 Nissan Altima, had also been damaged. The following morning, the Roselle Park High School (RPHS) reported graffiti on several windows of the school matching the color and writings discovered on the vehicles.
The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent pending a family court hearing.
