At 2:35 a.m., Roselle Park Police Department (RPPD) Detective Sergeant Dominick Frino conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2015 Mitsubishi along West Westfield Avenue for a moving and equipment violation. The driver who was identified as Anthony A. Marquez, age 29 from Hillside, was reportedly found to be driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. During the course of the investigation, Mr. Marquez was also found to be in possession of suspected marijuana, THC oils and Adderall, along with drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and charged with two (2) counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Motor vehicle summonses were issued for D.W.I., failure to observe a traffic signal, reckless driving, careless driving, D.W.I in a school zone, and possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle. Mr. Marquez was released on a summons with a pending a Union County Superior Court date.

At 1:29 a.m., RPPD Officer Dean Khallaf conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2000 BMW along West Westfield Avenue for a moving violation. The driver of the vehicle who was identified as Jonathan Hoyos, age 19 of Elizabeth, and passenger identified as Victor Pena-Cruz were both found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Hoyos was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance suspected marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. He was also issued motor vehicle summons for possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle, speeding, unclear plates, and failure to provide an insurance card. Mr. Pena-Cruz was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both men were released on summonses with a future Roselle Park Municipal Court date.
