Two Men Arrested At Green Acres On CDS Charges

On July 23, 2011 at approximately 11:20 p.m., Sgt. David Pitts performed a property check of the Roselle Park High School (RPHS) and the surrounding area. During the check, he observed a dark colored vehicle park on the 200 block of West Colfax Avenue and observed three (3) persons exit the vehicle and enter the Green Acres complex on foot through an opened gate. Sgt. Pitts investigated as to why the persons were there at the late hour since there were no events occurring at the complex.

Upon speaking with the individuals he discovered that one of the males, Emmanuel Vega, age 28 of Linden, discarded a clear plastic wrapper containing suspected marijuana on the ground. A second male, Andrew Piga, age 21 of Roselle Park, was found to be in possession of a Dutch Master brand cigar, commonly converted to ingest marijuana.

Mr. Vega was placed under arrest and charged with 2C:35-10(a)(4) (possession of marijuana). Mr. Piga was placed under arrest and charged with 2C:36-2 (possession of drug paraphernalia). They were both released pending a Roselle Park Municipal Court appearance on July 28, 2010.

The third individual, a 19-year-old female, was released from the scene.
