Two Arrested For Possession Of CDS

On September 1, 2010 at approximately 8:40 p.m. while on patrol in the area of E. Westfield Ave. / Linden Road, Patrolman Richard Gaylord observed a dark colored Nissan Altima with the driver in violation of New Jersey Motor Vehicle Statute 39:3-76.2f (seatbelt).

A motor vehicle stop led to an investigation which resulted in the discovery of two partially smoked marijuana cigarettes.

Luis Perez of Elizabeth was arrested and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and released.

Thorn Ruiz of Roselle was arrested and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and hindering apprehension for initially giving a false name to police. Ruiz was subsequently turned over to Elizabeth Police for two (2) outstanding warrants totaling $400.00.

Both have Roselle Park Municipal Court dates of September 8, 2010.

Perez was issued the following motor vehicle summonses – 39:3-66 (maintenance of lamps); 39:3-76.2F (seatbelt) and 39:4-49.1 (possession of CDS in a motor vehicle).
