Two Arrested After Stop For Rear Brake Light Violation

On March 20, 2011 at approximately 2:44 p.m., Patrolmen Alexander Lanza and Kevin Florczak observed a black Ford SUV traveling northbound on Locust Street in the area of West Colfax Avenue traveling with the rear brake light not functioning in violation of 39:3-66. A traffic stop on West Colfax Avenue at Pine Street resulted in the discovery of one (1) Ziplock sandwich bag containing suspected marijuana, a package of rolling papers labeled “E-Z Wider Double Wide” and a silver grinder containing suspected marijuana.

The driver, Angelo J. Albanese, age 39 of Cedar Grove, and the passenger, James Casale, age 56 of Roselle Park were both placed under arrest. Mr. Albanese was and issued motor vehicle summonses for 39:3-66 (maintenance of lamps) and 39:4-49.1 (CDS in motor vehicle).

Mr. Casale was charged with 2C:35-10(a)(4) (possession of marijuana) and 2C:36-2 (possession of drug paraphernalia). Both were released pending a Roselle Park Municipal Court date of March 31, 2011.
