Today at approximately 11:44 a.m., Roselle Park Police Department (RPPD) and the Roselle Park Fire Department (RPFD) responded to Sunrise Village apartment complex at 149 Jerome Street on a report of a utility pole and wires down in the main parking area of the complex.
An investigation revealed that a delivery truck belonging to Allied Building Supplies out of East Rutherford was unloading building supplies. Upon exiting the lot, the truck struck the power lines attached to both the utility pole and the building at 149 Jerome. Reportedly, this caused the utility pole to break into three (3) pieces and pull the façade of the 149 building to the ground.
Two vehicles parked in the lot appeared to have minor damage. No injuries were reported.
The apartment complex management, Borough of Roselle Park building engineer, and PSE&G are on scene attempting to make the area safe and begin cleanup.
It is unknown at this time if the tenants from the one apartment affected will be temporarily displaced.
