Tree Lighting Ceremony This Friday

Roselle Park will be holding its annual tree-lighting ceremony and holiday gala this Friday, December 6th, at the Michael J. Mauri Gazebo Park located at the intersection of Grant Avenue and Chestnut Street starting at 6:30 p.m.

The event will include festive holiday music and entertainment by Roselle Park school choirs as well as local residents. Special guests Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus might even make an appearance. The tree lighting will be followed by a holiday gala at the Casano Community Center, located up the block at 314 Chestnut Street. There will be refreshments and light fare along with pictures with Santa.

A suggestion from some residents was brought up to mayor & council at a public meeting in November to move the event to a week earlier – the Sunday right after Thanksgiving – in order to prevent conflicts with three Pop Warner cheer competition teams participating in the National Championships at Disney World as well as, at that time, a potential Roselle Park Panthers Football Championship game. The governing body said it would take the suggestion into consideration but the date was unchanged for this year and the ceremony will take place on Friday.
