Traffic Stop Results In One Arrest For Catalytic Convertor Thefts

On Monday, December 18th, at 2:30 a.m., Patrolman William Hannon conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2004 Cadillac along West Clay Avenue for an equipment violation.

The driver of the vehicle, Karriem Hodges, age 39 from Paterson, along with both passengers Paul McNamee, age 56 from Passaic, and Nadeer Harper, age 30 from Paterson, were all found to be in possession of suspected marijuana.

During the search of the vehicle, it was reported that three (3) used and cut catalytic converters were discovered in the vehicle stored in a sports bag. Following two recent thefts of catalytic converters from vehicles in Roselle Park within the last two weeks the items were seized for further investigation.

The investigation was turned over and followed up by the Roselle Park Detective Bureau. The investigation revealed that one of the catalytic converters was removed two weeks prior from a 1998 Honda that was parked on private property on East Westfield Avenue.

All three men were arrested and charged with possession of c.d.s. and drug paraphernalia.

Mr. Hodges was additionally charged with theft and criminal mischief.

All three were served with a summons and released with a Roselle Park Municipal Court date.

Efforts are still being made to locate the other two vehicles that had catalytic converters removed.
