Thief Returns iPhone & Apologizes After Owner Sends Text

On Tuesday, July 10th, a camp counselor reported her iPhone was stolen from the Roselle Park High School (RPHS) during the Youth Summer Camp earlier in the day. The victim, a 24-year-old Roselle Park resident, used a friend’s phone to send a text message to her phone in an attempt to locate it. She stated she received a response shortly thereafter from the thief. The message included an apology and directions on where to find the phone. The victim followed the suspect’s directions and located her phone wrapped in bathroom tissue in a trash can at the McDonald’s in Roselle Park. The theft is being investigated by Detective Assad.
