January 19, 2011, Patrolman John Skebeck responded to the 100 block of West Grant Avenue on a report of theft. The victim stated that two (2) gold and diamond wedding rings were stolen. The victim stated a house guest was observed in her bedroom the previous morning. The victim stated she last placed the rings in a jewelry box around 5 p.m. on January 18, 2011 and noticed them missing at 8 a.m. the following morning.
The approximate value of both rings is $4,000.
On January 26, 2011 the victim notified Detective Dominick Frino that she located her jewelry at a local jewelry store in Union, NJ. An investigation by Detective Frino led to Joel Garcia, age 18, of Roselle Park and a 17 year old female from Roselle Park. Garcia was charged with 2C:20-7 (receiving stolen property) and released pending a Superior Court date of February 2, 2010. The juvenile was charged with theft and released to the custody of a parent. Additional charges are pending against another juvenile.
