On August 13, 2012, at around 02:06 a.m., Roselle Park Police responded to Butler Avenue for a report of a fight in the street. At the scene, police located a female who was suffering from minor injuries. She identified her attacker as Brian Aranguren, age 19 of Rutherford, NJ. Mr. Aranguren, formerly of Roselle Park, had fled the scene prior to the arrival of the police.
Patrolmen Alexander Lanza and Gregory Polakoski located Mr. Aranguren in an apartment on Jerome Street later in the morning. According to police, he became combative and resisted arrest and had to be sprayed with Oleoresin Capsicum (pepper spray).
Mr. Aranguren was then taken into custody and transported to police headquarters. While in custody, he spit on the floor and walls of the processing area. Mr. Aranguren was charged with Simple Assault and Resisting Arrest then transported to the Union County Jail in lieu of $3,500.00 bail.
