On January 4, 2011, at 4:46 p.m., patrolman Alexander Lanza responded to the 600 block of Spruce Street on a report of a theft. The mother of the juvenile victim stated that her daughter’s cell phone had been stolen while she was eating lunch at Roselle Park High School. The juvenile victim stated she left her phone, a Blackberry Bold, on her lunch table while she left the area to buy a drink. When she returned a short time later her phone was gone.
Staff at the high school were contacted concerning the incident and confirmed the high school had recorded the incident on video surveillance.
A follow up investigation by Detective Richard Cocca resulted in the arrest of Chadler Joseph, age 18, of Roselle Park. Joseph was charged with theft and released pending a Roselle Park Municipal Court hearing on January 20, 2011.
