At 5:10 p.m. on May 22nd, Roselle Park Police were dispatched to the 400 block of East Clay Avenue for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The complainant reported that his 11-year-old son and two of his friends were followed home from school by a black male and a black female driving an older Honda. He stated that as the group walked near the intersection of Bender Avenue at East Clay Avenue, the suspects – driving an silver Honda Civic – stopped in the roadway and watched the boys. The vehicle then drove past the group a few more times during their walk home. One of the boys reported the suspects appeared to be watching as he entered his home. He also stated they drove past his home a few times.
Police responded to the area and were unable to locate this vehicle. None of the witnesses could provide any further details on the suspect car nor its occupants. The victims also reported that at no time did the suspects speak to them or approach them in any way. Police sent a description of the vehicle and its occupants to surrounding jurisdictions.
The matter is being investigated by Detective Richard Cocca.
