On Thursday, August 11, 2011 at approximately 2:42 a.m., Patrolman Mitchell White observed a male walking eastbound on the north side of East Westfield Avenue. The male appeared to be heavily intoxicated as he was swaying from side to side on the sidewalk. The male would stop periodically, walk up to several businesses on the roadway, look into the windows, and attempt to push on the doors.
Patrolman White approached the male, identified as William Boyko, age 42 of Roselle Park. An investigation led to the discovery of a small clear Ziploc bag containing suspected cocaine.
Mr. Boyko was placed under arrest and charged with 2C:35-10(a)(1) (possession of cocaine) and later released to a family member pending a Union County Superior Court date of August 19, 2011.
