Suspect Arrested For 2011 Scam

Juan Rivera Jr (aka Juan Pacheco) was arrested on March 27th by Detective Matthew Disano for Theft by Deception stemming from an incident that occurred in August 2011 and reported in the Roselle Park News (link). The victim, a resident of East Grant Avenue, reportedly entered into a contract for home repairs with Rivera that paid him almost $3,000. In return, Rivera was to obtain the necessary permits and install an air conditioning system. River allegedly took the cash deposit and never returned to do the work. Detective Disano identified the contractor as Rivera and made several attempts to speak to him during November and December of 2011. Rivera refused to cooperate but was finally apprehended on Tuesday in Hackensack, NJ by the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department.

Rivera, a 48 year old resident of Union City, was charged with 2C: 20-4(a) (Theft by Deception) and lodged into the Union County Jail after he was unable to post the $20,000 bail. Rivera has a Union County Superior Court date set in early April.
