On September 4, 2011 at 3:44 p.m., Patrolman Edward Nortrup responded to 60 East Westfield Avenue on a report of a male looking into the window of an apartment. Dispatch gave a description of a white male in his early 30s, bald head, approximately 5′ 7″ – 5′ 9″, wearing a white tank top and black shorts. Dispatch also advised that the caller stated that the suspect fled on foot eastbound on East Westfield Avenue towards Walnut Street. Officers searched the immediate area on foot with negative results. Additional units searched a larger area in patrol cars.
Police were advised by patrons at the White Rose restaurant on 1st Avenue in Roselle that a male matching the description entered a black SUV and fled southbound on Walnut Street in Roselle.
The complainant stated they were in their apartment, which is located on the east side of the building, when they noticed a white male wearing a white tank top and black shorts looking into the apartment window. The complainant asked the suspect what he was doing and that they were going to call the police at which point the suspect fled eastbound on East Westfield Avenue towards Walnut Street.
