Sundjata Sekou, who will be joining the Board Of Education (BOE) in January after being elected last month, announced his resignation today from the Roselle Park Veterans Memorial Library Board of Trustees. Mr. Sekou will be leaving as the Library Board’s treasurer. He was appointed in July of 2014 under Resolution 157-14 to fulfill the unexpired term caused by the resignation of Karl Adler. The term that Mr. Sekou filled was a four-year term that will expire on December 31, 2017.
At a previous meeting Mr. Sekou mentioned that he would weigh the decision whether to continue on the Library Board based on how much dedication would be required as a BOE member.
When reached for comment, Mr. Sekou said, “I sincerely appreciated working with all the individuals on the library board. It was a great opportunity to learn how the library operated financially. Lastly, it helped train me for my position on the Roselle Park Board of Education.”
Mr. Sekou stated his resignation would take effect at the end of the December 16th Library Board meeting this Wednesday.
