Standoff Ends In Apparent Suicide

An incident with a Roselle Park resident who – for lack of a better word – barricaded himself in his house on Sherman Avenue by East Lincoln Avenue has ended with the man dead in an apparent suicide. There were reportedly no other people in the house.

The almost nine-hour standoff started last night when Roselle Park Police and Union County SWAT responded to Sherman Avenue on a call from the man’s friend worried about him. A neighbor who witnessed the situation stated that at around 7:10 this morning, the man came to his front door momentarily then went back into the house. A gunshot was heard from inside the premises right after. The man, whose name is not being released at the moment, was a U.S. Customs officer.
