SSN Used To File False IRS Tax Return

On March 17, 2011 at 7:35 p.m. a resident reported that an unknown person had used the resident’s Social Security number to file a Federal Income Tax return. The resident discovered this when they e-filed their tax returns on March 2nd and they received a report from the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) notifying them that their Social Security number had already been used on a return.

The IRS advised the victim to file a police report.  The victim has contacted all of their financial institutions regarding the incident and there have been no other reports of their number being used as of this time.
