Speeding Violation Ends In Weapon & CDS Possession Arrest

On April 9, 2011 at approximately 11:01 p.m. while on patrol on East Westfield Avenue at Chestnut Street, Sergeant Peter Picarelli observed a white Chevy Impala traveling on East Westfield Avenue at a high rate of speed and passing other vehicles in the right lane. A motor vehicle stop on East Westfield Avenue at Sheridan Avenue resulted in the discovery of one (1) large folding knife and a partially smoked hand rolled cigar containing suspected marijuana.

Thomas Pareso, age 22 of Clark, NJ was placed under arrest and charged with 2C:39-5d (possession of weapon), 2C:35-10(a)(4) (possession of marijuana), and 2C:36-2 (possession of drug paraphernalia). He was also issued a motor vehicle summonses for 39:4-98 (speeding), 39:4-88(a) (failure to keep right), and 39:4-49.1 (CDS in motor vehicle). Mr. Pareso was released pending a Superior Court date of April 20, 2011.
