Scotch Plains Man Arrested On CDS Charges

On June 4, 2011  Patrolmen James Kompany and Matthew White were in the area of Faitoute Avenue and West Clay Avenue, and observed a maroon Buick parked northbound on Faitoute Avenue. This vehicle was occupied by a lone male driver, later identified as Charles M. Laskowski. Mr. Laskowski had his head down and it was unclear if he was asleep or in need of assistance. Patrolman White notified dispatch of the location and that Patrolmen White and Kompany would be investigating this matter.

When officer Kompany approached the passenger side window, Mr. Laskowski looked up and opened the window. He stated that he was parked waiting for a train to pass because he wanted to take pictures of it. An investigation led to the discovery of a clear plastic bag which contained suspected marijuana.

The driver Charles Laskowski, age 26 of Scotch Plains, NJ was arrested and charged with 2C:35-10(a)(4) (possession of marijuana). He was also issued a motor vehicle summons 39: 4-49.1 (CDS in a motor vehicle). Mr. Laskowski was released pending a court appearance in Roselle Park Municipal Court on June 23, 2011.
