On Monday, September 12, 2011 at approximately 12:46 a.m., all units were dispatched by headquarters to the 100 block of Butler Avenue on a report of someone trying to break into the victim’s house. Patrolman Mitchell White responded to the residence.
Patrolman White pulled up to the residence and observed a male identified as Brian Aranguren, age 18 of Rutherford NJ, banging on the side door and yelling obscenities. Patrolman White ordered Aranguren to stop but Aranguren proceeded to run to the backyard of another residence. He jumped the fence into the neighbor’s backyard and then jumped the fence back into the rear yard of the first property. Aranguren ran onto the back deck of the residence and tried to enter the house via the rear door but was unsuccessful causing damage to the window. Patrolman White ordered him to the ground.
Once on the ground, Patrolman White went over the fence and placed Aranguren under arrest.
Patrolman White spoke with the victim who stated that Aranguren is her boyfriend and that he had left her house around midnight. The victim stated that Aranguren was intoxicated and she did not want him coming back to her house.
Aranguren was charged with 2C:33-2(a)(1) (disorderly conduct) 2C:29-2(a)(1) (resisting arrest), and 2C:17-3 (criminal mischief) pending a Roselle Park Municipal Court first appearance on September 22, 2011.
Aranguren showed signs of being intoxicated and was released to the custody of a relative at approximately 7 a.m.
