The 2016 Roselle Park Youth Baseball & Softball League (RPYBSL) season is currently accepting registrations until Monday, February 29th. Anyone who signs up their child before this Sunday, February 14th, will receive a $20 family discount.
The 2016 RPYBSL Opening Day parade and ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, April 16th It is critical that registration is completed by March 1st to allow sufficient time for the league to select coaches, run their draft, assign sponsors to each team, order uniforms, and get practices started.
The League Clinic is open to girls age 5 as of January 1, 2016 (below 1st grade) and boys age 5-6 as of May 1, 2016. Clinic mostly runs on Adase Field on Saturdays starting a week after opening day through June where players are taught different aspects of the game. There will be a Clinic parents’ meeting to discuss this in more detail after registration closes.
Baseball divisions are based on age as of May 1, 2016:
- 7/8s
- 9/10s
- 11/12s
- 13-17 are Senior Boys
7/8s only play other Roselle Park teams in their division. This year will have both 9/10s and 11/12s playing in and outside of Roselle Park against each other as well as teams from other towns like Kenilworth and Springfield. Senior Boys will continue to play in and outside of Roselle Park against each other as well as teams from other towns as a part of a league run out of Union but the maximum age has been moved from 15 to 17 – with the caveat that 17-year-olds cannot pitch – in order to be consistent with other towns.
Softball divisions are based on 2015-2016 school grade:
- 1st-2nd
- 3rd-5th
- 6th-8th
- High School (up to maximum registration age)
All softball teams will continue to play in and outside of Roselle Park against each other as well as teams from other towns like Elizabeth, Kenilworth, Roselle, and Garwood.
Coaches will draft teams in March and contact their players to get practices started shortly afterward.
Registration can be done by mail or in person. The last sign-up date before the $20 family discount can be applied is Saturday, February 13th, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. After then, the remaining in-person sign up dates are:
