RPVM Library To Host Poetry Workshop

To celebrate National Poetry Month, on Monday April 18, 2011 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Leona M Seufert will do a reading of her poems and a poetry workshop at the Casano Community Center, located at 314 Chestnut Street.

Admission is free.

Ms. Seufert, Roselle Park’s Poet Laureate, has given numerous workshops on “Writing as Therapy” and sees National Poetry Month as a great way to make people aware of the positive impact that writing a poem can have on their lives. In this evening of poetry, Seufert will not just read her poetry, but will also demystify the process of writing poetry and allow the audience to share their own poems.

“I would like to show people of all ages how easy it is to write and enjoy poetry, and to use poetry to enhance their lives,” Ms. Seufert stated, who has published two (2) poetry chapbooks, “The Memory Keeper’s Promise – Reflecting on Loss and Remembrance” and “From Here To There And Back Again, A Commuter’s Journey”. In 2004 she self published “The 9-11 Year”, a  book of poems and essays about the aftermath of 9/11. She has also had her works published in A Professional’s Resource and Our Sunday Visitor, Inc. Her essay “Determination” was a winner in the 7th New Jersey Wordsmith Competition. Her poems have also appeared on numerous websites and in online e-zines.
