RPSD Launches Official Facebook Page

Continuing with their objective to use technology as a means to enhance communications with the community, the Roselle Park Board Of Education (BOE) has launched the official Roselle Park School District (RPSD) Facebook page (link). This latest initiative, which follows the BOE updating the school district web site to include online videos of their meetings, is one of three initiatives that will be announced at Thursday night’s meeting. The Facebook page will have up-to-date information with announcements, events, and notices from the Roselle Park school system.

Even though public comments will remain disabled for now, visitors will be able to comment on posts made by the BOE but those messages will not be visible to the public. In addition to being able to privately contact the BOE through the Facebook Private Message feature, parents and residents can also visit the district’s web site at www.rpsd.org (link) to contact the BOE with any questions, comments, or concerns.

“As a Board, one of our goals is to improve and enhance our abilities to communicate with our community,” commented BOE member Jeof Vita, “Having a presence on Facebook and reaching people where they already are anyway is simply an extension of that goal. We will continuously try to find ways to reach out to our community and get the feedback that we need to keep our students moving in the right direction.”

Thursday night’s meeting – originally scheduled for tonight – was postponed until March 21st to allow for the public hearing on the 2013-14 school district budget.
