RP’s Own Gene Antonucci Being Inducted Into 2015 Softball Hall Of Fame

Roselle Park resident Gene Antonucci has been chosen to be inducted into the Amateur Softball Association of New Jersey (ASANJ), District II, Union County, New Jersey Hall of Fame.

The event will take place Friday, October 9th, at the VFW Kenilworth Post 2230 with the doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

Mr. Antonucci is one of only five inductees for 2015 and will be placed in the association’s Book of High Honor his excellence in slow-pitching softball. The ASANJ Hall Of Fame honors those who have played a major role in the growth and development of ASA Softball and who have made outstanding contributions to the game of ASA Softball in the County of Union as well as New Jersey. Among the criteria included for Gene was that he distinguished himself through Union County, New Jersey ASA sanctioned league as well as ASA sanctioned championship play and that he played a minimum of 10 seasons.

When reached for comment, Gene graciously stated, “It’s an honor to be inducted into the Union County Softball Hall Of Fame. I have had the honor of playing with a lot of good players for almost 40 years. We’ve won a lot of championships through the years but what I’ll always treasure the most is the friends I’ve made with both my teammates and my opponents.”

The evening – which will include a buffet dinner, beer, wine, soda, and music – is $20 per person. Dinner begins at 7 p.m.

The list of the 2015 ASA Hall Of Fame inductees are:

  • Gene Antonucci (Slow Pitch Player)
  • Emmanuel Caravano (Sponsor)
  • Don Geddis (Fast Pitch Player)
  • Dom Lawrence (League Founder & Director)
  • Erin McGuinness (Contributor)
