RPPD Takes Part In “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”

Starting today, August 21st, and going through till Monday, September 7th, Roselle Park Police Department (RPPD) will be taking part in the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign. The annual crackdown on drunk drivers will include sobriety checkpoints as well as patrols at the end-of-summer and Labor Day week.

The two-week initiative is being funded by a grant from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety with Roselle Park being one of 182 municipalities receiving $5,000 each to take part.

RPPD offers the following advice:

  • Don’t risk it. If you plan to drive, don’t drink.
  • Choose a sober designated driver before partying.
  • Take mass transit, a taxicab or ask a friend to drive you home if you didn’t plan in advance.
  • Spend the night where the activity is being held.
