The Roselle Park Police Department (RPPD) is currently seeking volunteer Auxiliary Police Officers. Candidates must be between 18 and 65 years of age and satisfy a thorough background investigation. Auxiliary Officers are required to volunteer a minimum of eight (8) hours a month as well as attend one (1) monthly training meeting.
Functions for assignment to Auxiliary Police Officer include:
- Traffic Control
- Crowd Control
- Assistance with staffing and functioning during events or times of emergency
- Maintaining of order as required and/or directed
Beginning in February 2016, Auxiliary Police Officers must complete a 12-week Basic Auxiliary training program conducted by the Union County Police Academy in cooperation with the Union County Prosecutor’s Office. Classes will be in the evening twice weekly, and during the day on Saturday. The curriculum includes:

- Handcuffing Practical/Weapon Familiarization

Applicants need not be residents if their local police department does not host an auxiliary program and they live within five (5) miles of Roselle Park.
Applications for volunteer Auxiliary Police Officer will be available starting today, November 13th, at the Roselle Park Police Department Records Bureau located at 110 East Westfield Avenue.
