The Roselle Park Police Department (RPPD) is seeking the help of the public in locating Johansel Moronta (also known as Johansel Rafael Asmar). Mr. Moronta’s recorded Date Of Birth is November 11, 1992 (11/11/92) and his last known address was 640 Hussa Street in Linden, New Jersey.
Mr. Moronta is wanted by the Roselle Park Police for Eluding (a 2nd degree crime) and Resisting Arrest (a 4th degree crime).
At approximately 1:45 a.m. on July 22nd, Mr. Moronta was driving a 2012 Black Honda Civic 4-door that was registered to a family member. He was stopped for Failure To Stop At A Stop Sign (NJSA 39:4-144). According to police, Mr. Moronta initially pulled over during the motor vehicle stop but then abruptly sped away from Patrolman William Hannon as the police officer stepped out his patrol car. Mr. Moronta allegedly then fled through Locust Street in Roselle, crashing through a fence while trying to negotiate a turn on West 7th Avenue, but continued to flee in the vehicle as police pursued him with emergency lights and sirens. The suspect bailed out of the vehicle and abandoned it at the intersection of Chestnut Street and St. Georges Avenue in Linden. He was last observed running westbound on St. Georges Avenue.
The Honda Civic was secured and a search warrant was granted by a Union County Superior Court Judge. Inside the vehicle, detectives reportedly located Mr. Moronta’s wallet with his identification and former employment identification from FedEx Ground in Keasbey, New Jersey.
Police have made attempts to locate Mr. Moronta at his residence to no avail.
