RPPD Seeking Information On Westfield Avenue Accident Where Pedestrian Was Struck

Last night, at around 7:23 p.m., the Roselle Park Police Department (RPPD) responded to the 300 block of East Westfield Avenue on a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian who was stated to be unconscious in the middle of the highway.

Investigation revealed that a 2001 Ford Explorer operated by a 57-year-old Freehold Borough resident was traveling eastbound in the outside lane of East Westfield Avenue when he struck and injured a 61-year-old Roselle Park resident who was standing in the roadway. The pedestrian was unconscious upon arrival of the police and was transported to University Hospital in Newark by Union County E.M.S.  where she was reported to be in critical but stable condition.

The crash is currently under investigation led by the Roselle Park Police Detective Bureau and Traffic Unit. They are assisted by the Union County Police Crash Investigation Team and Union County Sheriff’s Office (Crime Scene Unit).

Traffic in both directions was shut down for approximately three hours last night during the investigation.
