RPPD Reads To EJF-Aldene Students

“Once upon a time . . .”

Yesterday, March 2nd, was “National Read Across America” day. Roselle Park had its share of local celebrities along with parents and family take part by reading to students in the elementary schools throughout the district. There was Mayor Carl Hokanson and even a telecast of former Sherman Elementary School principal Mary Christensen all the way from Colorado reading to Roselle Park school children.

Among that group were members of the Roselle Park Police Department (RPPD). Police Captain Daniel McCaffery and officer Joshua Medrano read to kindergarten students from the Ernest J. Finizio- Aldene School. Captain McCaffery read “Where The Wild Things Are” to Mrs. Leonardis’ class while officer Medrano read to Mrs. Cashin’s students.

Both RPPD officers welcomed the opportunity to read to the students, both as officers to the community and fathers.
