RPPD Investigating Attempted Distraction Burglary On West Roselle Avenue

At approximately 1:21 in the afternoon of Monday, September 25th Roselle Park police officers responded to a residence on West Roselle Avenue. An elderly resident reported that an unknown male arrived at the residence posing as a utility worker and wanted to hook up a generator in the rear yard in case of a loss of power.

The individual was described as a dark-skinned male – possibly Hispanic – wearing a navy blue jumpsuit. He attempted to lure the resident to the rear yard of the residence to show where the generator would be installed. The resident was suspicious and immediately called the police. The suspect fled the area on foot.
