RPPD Arrest Teen Driver Suspected Of Crashing Into Cars & Property

On September 15, 2012, at 11:45 p.m., Patrolman John Deegan – while on an unrelated traffic stop – observed a vehicle with major front end damage disregard the stop sign on East Clay Avenue at Chestnut Street.

The vehicle, a white Suzuki XL7, was missing a front tire.

Officer Deegan began to follow the Suzuki and watched it strike a parked vehicle on Park Place. The Suzuki fled northbound, where it struck a curb and became disabled on West Webster Avenue.

Officer Deegan stated he found the driver, Elizabeth K. Henry, disoriented and apparently under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Henry, 18 of Roselle Park, was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to the Roselle Park Police Department.

Meanwhile, police were alerted to several crashes within the borough where the suspect vehicle, a white SUV fled the crash scene.

A follow-up investigation revealed that prior to the crash on Park Place, Henry’s Suzuki apparently crashed into a speed limit sign on East Lincoln Avenue, a parked Chevrolet on the 100 block of East Clay Avenue, and a BMW on Spruce Street.

Henry was charged with DWI, DWI in a School Zone, DWI Under 21, Fail to stop or yield, Reckless driving, Provisional driver violations, and four (4) counts of Leaving the Scene of a Crash.

Henry was released pending an appearance in Roselle Park Municipal Court on September 27, 2012.
