On July 15, 2011 at 4:52 a.m., Patrolmen Mitchell White and John Deegan observed a 2001 silver Nissan Pathfinder run the stop sign on Bender Avenue at East Westfield Avenue and proceed westbound on East Westfield Avenue. A motor vehicle stop resulted in the driver, Jason Hidalgo, age 19 of Roselle Park, being placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated.
Two (2) passengers, both 16-year-old males from Roselle Park were taken into custody after officers confirmed they were also under the influence of alcohol. The juveniles were released to their parents and will be charged with violating the Roselle Park curfew.
Mr. Hidalgo was charged with 39:4-50 (driving while intoxicated), 39:4-144 (failure to stop or yield), and 39:4-50.15(b) (DWI with minors in the vehicle, a disorderly persons offense).
