On Saturday, May 19th, patrolman James Kompany responded to the 500 block of Ashwood Avenue on a report of a driver leaving the scene traffic crash. As Patrolman Kompany was investigating the crash, he observed the suspect vehicle park nearby. He was able to locate and identify the driver as Roselle Park resident Juan S. Delrio, age 25.
Upon interviewing Delrio, Patrolman Kompany reported that he was able to determine that Delrio was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash.
According to Kompany, Delrio exhibited signs of impairment while at the scene and the officer had Delrio perform field sobriety tests. Delrio reportedly failed the tests and was placed under arrest for DWI (Driving While Intoxicated). Delrio was also found to be in illegal possession of a knife.
Delrio was processed at RPPD, charged with DWI and Possession of a Weapon, and later released pending an appearance in Roselle Park Municipal Court.
