The Roselle Park High School (RPHS) Golf Team, facing off against eight other teams in their division, have won the Mountain Division Title in the Mountain-Valley Conference tournament held at Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth.
The seven-member RPHS Golf Team consists of Seniors Dom Landi, Brad Carle, and Liam Cheek; Junior David Arocho; and Sophomores Casey Crown, Anthony Triola, and Carmine Crincolias well as Head Coach Bruce Coultas and Assistant Coach Justin Polce. The team currently has a record of 7 wins and 5 losses. During the tournament, the team was led by the second place finish of Dom Landi. He shot 77. The average score for an amateur golfer is in the 100-stroke mark and the lower the score the better. Dom’s victory was supported by an Eagle 2, where he scored a 2 on a per-4 hole, on the second hole. Head coach Bruce Coultas commented, “On that difficult uphill hole, he was able to hole out a nine-iron from 140 yards.”
The RPHS Golf Team has been in existence for over seven decades and formal practice starts the first week in March every year. But, as is with all lovers of the Back Nine, the team members play and practice year round.
“I would like to say that winning the division championship is a just reward for the team,” stated Coach Coultas, “They are a very dedicated group of athletes who have worked hard throughout the year to achieve this goal. Their determination and hard work have paid off.”
