On March14, 2011, a doctor with a practice in Roselle Park filed a report of identity theft. The doctor, advised police that a patient called several pharmacies and identified themselves as the physician in order to obtain prescription medication.
The patient contacted the several pharmacies during February and March 2011 ordering Paxil and Ambien medications over the phone. The patient then picked up these medications in person.
The doctor was first made aware of this crime when one of the pharmacists became suspicious of the patient’s behavior and contacted the doctor to verify the legitimacy of the prescription orders.
