Roselle Park Shows Its Love Of Art This Saturday

Discover Roselle Park Day is Saturday, September 13th and events will be scheduled throughout the afternoon into the evening to showcase art and artists in the borough.

Roselle Park Loves ART!, an idea started by resident Pam Reinoso, aims to showcase artists in town. After learning about Montclair Art Museum’s MAM Truck – a mobile art studio housed in a retrofitted ice cream truck that offers art projects and lessons to MAM’s community – Pamela reached out the nationally recognized museum to see if the moving exhibit could come to Roselle Park. From that small seed, Roselle Park Loves ART! and Discover Roselle Park Day was born.

Seeing as the semi-annual Cruisin’ Night Car Show was going to take place in September, Pam did the necessary legwork to reach out to the municipality, artists, artisans, musicians, organizations, and merchants in town. Step by step, Pam pushed to have an additional street closed to expand the promenade to include the Casano Community Center and even the Roselle Park Veterans Memorial Library. Working with Leona Seufert, they branched out the event from a car show to Roselle Park Loves ART! to Discover Roselle Park Day.

A line-up of activities and events includes the car show, live music, a book sale, roving artists, 50s music, art exhibits, dance performances, and – of course – the MAM Truck.

This is the first year of Roselle Park Loves ART!/Discover Roselle Park Day but, the plans to continue on for years to come are already on Pam’s horizon.

“Roselle Park Loves ART! is a full community event meant to bring residents and businesses together through art and fun activities,” Pam said, “The existence of Roselle Park Loves ART! & Disocver Roselle Park Day shows what can happen when members of a community pull together. The support for it has been outstanding and I hope that as a community we can continue the tradition next year.”
