The Mothers’ Center of Central New Jersey (MCCNJ) held its first annual NJ Miles With Moms 5K Run/Walk event on Saturday, April 28th at Oak Ridge Park in Clark. It was a chilly but beautiful day and many people came out to support the Mothers’ Center of Central NJ including some Roselle Park residents.
There were five (5) first place awards given out at the conclusion of the race and two of them went to Roselle Park’s own Anna George and EJ Kennedy. Anna George was awarded the First Place Mothers’ Center Member with a finishing time of 24:56 and EJ Kennedy was awarded First Place Child with a finishing time of 33:26.
Other notable Roselle Park participants included Michael George (4th Adult Male at 24:49), Jennifer Miller (6th Adult Female at 25:40) and Rosie Kennedy (41:38). The NJ Miles With Moms 5K also included a stroller category. The Roselle Park residents finishing the race while pushing strollers were Jacqueline Taluba (4th at 43:03), Kelly Gallagher, and Eddie Kennedy.
The Mothers’ Center of Central NJ is a non-profit organization committed to raising the status of women as mothers. Established in 1978, MCCNJ is a local chapter of the National Mothers’ Center. Through daytime and evening activities, they offer many opportunities for local moms to connect. Their philosophy is built on a foundation of peer support and education.
