Road Work On Westfield Avenue

Road work being done on Westfield Avenue between Bridge Street and Valley Road has the westbound lane completely closed, necessitating the eastbound lane to accommodate both directions of traffic for the next couple of days.

Business owners were notified by letter as to the duration of work but Frenchy’s Tavern, Bellisima Pizza, 7-11, Welsh Farms, and Colline Brothers have all had access to their establishments blocked off or hindered due to the construction.

Felice of Bellisima stated that a letter was sent and the expected impact to Westfield Avenue would be about one (1) week although a foreman from Roman E&G, the actual contractor for PSE&G doing the work, stated it would take about two (2) days.

The work to the road appears to be on the behest of Merck, formerly Schering-Plough, in Kenilworth who needed more power to their complex. As more information becomes available and is confirmed, it will be published here.
