Ride-Along Request Ends In Escorted Arrest For RP Resident

Shiela Barriga, age 32 of Union Township, was charged with Contempt of Court by Patrolman Mitchell White on January 4, 2013 during a traffic stop. Barriga was released after posting $1,000 bail on an outstanding Edison Township Municipal Court warrant.

Terrance Coston, 26 of Newark, was arrested on a Newark warrant during a traffic stop by Patrolman Kostantinos Vathianakis. Coston was released into custody of the Newark Police Department.

January 5

Mariojohn Cassitta, a 29-year-old Roselle Park man, was arrested after requesting a ‘ride-along’ with an on-duty uniformed police officer. At 2 a.m. on January 5th, Patrolman Richard Gaylord was parked in Municipal Lot 1 when he was approached by a loud and apparently intoxicated Cassitta. Cassitta walked up to Patrolman Gaylord’s vehicle and asked to patrol the Borough with the officer. Gaylord reported that he then detected the odor of marijuana coming from Cassitta. A further search revealed that Cassitta was in possession a package of suspected marijuana. He was then arrested and transported to Headquarters. Cassitta became combative and kicked the windows of the patrol car while he was secured in the rear seat, according to police. Cassitta was later released to a family member due to his intoxication.

Daimien L. Dawkins, 37 of Hillside, was arrested by Sergeant Dominick Frino during a traffic stop on January 5th on a Newark warrant and was released with a new court date in the Newark Municipal Court.

Lyanelly N. Santiago, 24 of Union Township, was arrested by Patrolman Kostantinos Vathianakis during a traffic stop on January 5th on a warrant from the East Brunswick Municipal Court. Santiago posted bail.

January 6

Wislet Dieujuste, 27 of Roselle, was stopped and arrested by Patrolman John Deegan for urinating in public near the Locust Street / Westfield Avenue intersection at 4 a.m. on January 6th. Dieujuste was found in possession of suspected marijuana and was also charged with failure to give a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) to the police.

Jenna Bonstein, 21 of Old Bridge, was arrested for possession of suspected marijuana during a traffic stop by Patrolman Nicholas Vaughan. Vaughan observed Bonstein using a hand held electronic device on Linden Road. During the stop, she was also reportedly found in possession of drug paraphernalia.
