The newly revised agenda for tomorrow night’s Mayor & Council meeting have two (2) resolutions that will rescind the acceptance and placement of the “Kneeling Soldier At Cross” memorial. Those original resolutions, 197-16 and 198-16, were accepted by a 3-2 vote on August 18th.
This action will basically retroactively reverse council’s decision to retroactively accept the donation in the first place. The memorial was installed before the vote to approve it and yesterday the memorial was removed before the governing body will vote to not accept it.
It is not certain at this time what impact, if any, this will have on the lawsuit filed on September 30th by the American Humanist Association along with Greg and Charlene Storey against the Borough of Roselle Park and Carl Hokanson in his capacity as mayor.
The new resolutions, 246-16 and 247-16, are scheduled to be voted on tomorrow night at the October 6th Mayor & Council meeting inside Borough Hall, located at 110 East Westfield Avenue, which will start at 7 p.m.
