With the Christmas season almost over, residents can put out their former Christmas trees out for collection. Residents can call the Department of Public Works (DPW) in order to request a pick-up.
The trees will be collected as part of a tree recycling program. The National Christmas Tree Association (link) encourages the program since evergreen conifers, spruces, pines, and firs are biodegradable and can easily be re-used or recycled for mulch and other purposes.
No end date has been provided for the tree collection. Anyone needing more information can call (908) 245-7676. The DPW’s hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. till noon and 12:30 p.m. till 3:30 p.m.
