Resident Ticketed For Illegal Dumping

On October 11, 2010, at 4:29 p.m. Patrolman James Cantrell responded to the 500 block of W. Westfield Avenue on a report of illegal dumping. A local business employee stated that at 4:18 p.m. he observed a white male, approximately 30 years of age, pull into the rear of the business and begin emptying garbage into a dumpster rented by the business for private use. The employee stated he yelled out a window at the subject that he was going to call the police and the subject quickly left the area.

The employee obtained a license plate on the subject’s vehicle which was registered to a resident of West Westfield Avenue in Roselle Park. The suspect and the vehicle were captured on surveillance cameras, which confirmed the vehicle type and suspect description.

A follow-up investigation by Detective Hussam Assad on October 12, 2010, resulted in the identification of the suspect, Raymond J. Liptak, III, age 34, of Roselle Park.

After speaking with Mr. Liptak in regards to the illegal dumping and advising him of the fact that he and the motor vehicle he was driving were captured on surveillance video, Mr. Liptak admitted to dumping disassembled computer monitors and air conditioners in the dumpster.

Mr. Liptak was issued a Roselle Park Borough ordinance summons for 3-7.7 (illegal dumping) pending a Roselle Park Municipal Court appearance pending on October 21, 2010.
