Yesterday, February 3rd, the Roselle Park Police Department (RPPD) released information on a Roselle Park resident who reported receiving a telephone call from an individual purporting to be from PSE&G, claiming the resident had and outstanding $1,000 balance. The caller claimed that the electrical service would be disconnected if the resident did not pay immediately with a “Money gram” and have the funds wired to the caller.
If anyone receive a call and does not believe the caller is an official representative from that company, hang up the phone and call the company using a phone number from a bill to confirm the outstanding balance. Do not call back using the number provided by the suspicious caller or from the caller ID. If anyone has any reason to doubt the authenticity of the call do not make any payment over the phone or by any money transfer service. Report any suspicious calls to the Roselle Park Police at (908) 245-2300.
